This software was originally released in April 2004, shortly after the release of Eidos’ Thief: Deadly Shadows, the long-awaited (but much maligned) sequel to Thief: The Dark Project and Thief 2: The Metal Age.

The idea was to provide an easy to use GUI to help players tweak their game settings in ways that the in-game settings menus wouldn’t allow.

The original text from the release notes is reproduced below, along with a download link.

I am no longer the active developer of the T:DS Tweaker, as I just couldn’t find the time to put in all of the tweaks that the fantastic community found!

I have passed development over to an individual calling himself Keeper Sol, who has promised to do his best to keep it up to date. I will update this page with any new versions as and when they are completed.

This program is still technically in BETA stage, and may cause damage to your Thief: Deadly Shadows installation.

It shouldn’t though. I’ve tested it quite thoroughly on my own installation and have had no adverse effects.

Still, if you do find a bug – please let me know!

Anyway, this program basically allows you to tweak various settings in the game Thief: Deadly Shadows by Eidosand Ion Storm. Its not finished yet, there are still more tweaks left to put in – but I wanted to get this out so that people could test it and give me feedback!

It requires the Visual Basic 6 runtimes – but as T:DS is only supported on Windows 2000 and XP, and those operating systems should have the required files installed by default, then they should be installed on your system anyway. If not, you can download them from the Microsoft website (about 1Mb)

AGAIN, THIS IS BETA SOFTWARE AND MAY DAMAGE YOUR COMPUTER – I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY THIS PROGRAM! USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
