Colt 1911 Combat Commander

This is a Western Arms Colt 1911. The "Combat Commander" model, this is a slightly shorter version of the full-sized military-spec M1911A1, but it is still a very nice gun.

I've always been fond of the look of the 1911 pistol, and although this isn't the full-sized gun (which I would have preferred to get) it does the job. It currently has just a plastic slide which is a bit annoying. I want to convert all of my pistols to at least have metal slides on eventually.

The M1911A1 and it's variants have been the staple sidearm of the U.S. Army since, well, 1911. They are usually found chambered for .45 ACP ammunition, but there are variants chambered for other rounds. Many U.S. armed forces have shunned this pistol in favour of the 9mm Beretta M92FS, which whilst still a nice pistol doesn't quite have the aesthetics of the 1911.

Not that aesthetics are important when you're in a gun fight, of course.
